Há coisas que são a priori desagradáveis — quer por contrariar meus desejos, interesses, quer por julgá-las exigentes demais, mas que são necessárias de se ouvir, de se dar atenção, que urgem pela sua importância ser acolhidas. E somente o serão devidamente aceitas se forem compreendidas, se eu me permitir abertura para compreendê-las. Se ao invés de reativamente as rejeitar, ou ser-lhes indiferente entregar-me ao fortalecimento do impulso corajoso da curiosidade, que me leva a averiguar, a conhecer, a conversar com o que está para fora de mim, da minha ignorância, dos meus medos infundados que subjugam meu emocional; do meu narcisismo com sua segurança fantasista, mentirosa e assim nefasta.

There are things that are unpleasant a priori — either because they go against my desires and interests, or because I judge them to be too demanding — but they need to be heard, they need to be paid attention to, they need to be welcomed because of their importance. And they will only be duly accepted if they are understood, if I allow myself to be open to understanding them. If, instead of reactively rejecting them or being indifferent to them, I surrender myself to strengthening the courageous impulse of curiosity, which leads me to investigate, to learn, to talk with what is outside of me, my ignorance, my unfounded fears that subjugate my emotions; my narcissism with its fantastical, lying and therefore harmful security.
