Não identificar realisticamente e valorar o que efetivamente é fonte e manutenção de vida, de vitalidade e nisso também futuroso, a qualquer momento e por qualquer coisa estarei trocando isso por enganosos valores, e nesta e por esta ilusão, não raro de mera ostentação, ou promessas de, estarei a dissimular, a negar sua destrutividade em mim e na biosfera — ambiental, seus seres todos, incluindo o humano. Estarei em um ganho insensato, contraproducente e sempre na insatisfação e desespero perguntando nesta troca incôndita: o que ganharei se entregar isso? E não quer ver que será a preço do embaraçar, do enforcar da vida e da possibilidade de viver realmente bem.

Failing to realistically identify and value what truly constitutes the source and maintenance of life, vitality, and therefore the future, means that at any moment and for any reason I will be exchanging it for deceptive values. And in this illusion, often a mere display of ostentation or promises, I will be concealing and denying its destructiveness within myself and the biosphere—the environment, all its beings, including humans. I will be engaging in a senseless, counterproductive gain, always in dissatisfaction and despair, constantly asking in this unspoken exchange: what will I gain if I give this up? And I refuse to see that it will be at the price of hindering, of strangling life and the possibility of truly living well.
