A perversidade nunca se apresentará, se impulsionará como um mal, mas sempre com a justificativa de um bem, de necessário. Ela não agirá por fora da legalidade, da moralidade, do venerável, mas frequentemente espetacularizará em nome destas e aí se perpetua. Será performando justiça num tribunal, numa lei; performando virtude num “templo”, cultual, inevitável, imprescindível, heroico, assim completa seu círculo vicioso, interditando, a ficcionalizar o brotar, o desenvolver efetivo do bem.

Perversity never presents or propels itself as an evil, but always under the justification of a good—of necessity. It does not operate outside the bounds of legality, morality, or the venerable; rather, it frequently stages a spectacle in their name, thereby perpetuating itself. It does so by performing justice in a courtroom or through a law, or by performing virtue in a "temple"—cultic, inevitable, indispensable, heroic. Thus, it completes its vicious circle, stifling—through the fictionalization of the process—the actual sprouting and genuine development of the good.
